A great and Happy New Year! Golly, don’t we all hope that 2020 and 2021 be a distant memory and that we find new and exciting 2022!

Where has Kathy Hays been? Have you missed my newsletter? Are you wondering what I have been doing? Let me explain, I am well and healthy but somewhat distracted. You see, I became a grandma this past year! It has been exciting needless to say, but one of the biggest and emotional fact is seeing your own son hold his baby! This is so powerful and overwhelming at times. I feel blessed and in awe.

So what is happening with Eco Printing you might ask. I have spent some holiday time moving courses from the Thinkific site to a more manageable site called Gumroad. The whole online teaching platforms are changing leap and bounds, and sometimes hard to keep up. With the pandemic came a quick rush to teach online, and the hosting companies have gone wild with fees and features. I am not a web developer or IT wiz kid, this stuff is pretty tough to digest. So moving to a more simpler platform just makes more sense. Afterall, I want to create and not be harnessed to learn advanced computer skills! I will admit that I have withdrawn from a lot of the Facebook groups and social media in general. It has become too toxic and does not bode well for creativity. I am still here….I simply don’t engage in the social media game.

So what do you struggle with when it comes to botanical or eco printing? The topic is more complex than what meets the eye. I know there are so many social media groups that really ad to a lot of confusion. But here is one thing that I can be sure, we learn when we are ready to learn. I know you can be quite excited to learn and take several classes on the topic. But it is not until you stop and absorb the information that it all becomes clear. It is not the course you took or the pdf that you bought; it is when the mind that is ready to accept the information. Don’t beat yourself up…hang in there, take baby steps and absorb the information. The leaves have a language all of their own, you just need to know the language they speak!

With this being January and a new year, this is good time to decide what you want 2022 to look like. You are in control of how good you get with eco/botanical printing. I suggest you invest in yourself this coming year. Dedicate a portion of each week to at least look at your prints and start to learn the language of the leaves.
